Mazen Mohammad Aldawood

Biography

is a science, academia and technology professional with over ten years of experience in a wide range of leadership and scientific positions ranging from life sciences technology and commercialization to neuroscience research. He currently serves as the Director of the Innovation and Industrial Development Institute at KACST, and previously served as the Director of the Biotechnology Sector at the Badir Program for Technology Incubators. He is the former Director of the Center for Autism Research at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, where he also worked as a research scientist in the field of functional brain imaging. Dr. Niazy obtained his Doctoral degree in Engineering Sciences from the University of Oxford, MS degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, and BS degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In previous endeavors, Dr. Niazy worked as a research associate at Cardiff University and as a clinical engineer at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Niazy has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and conference proceeding in the field of functional imaging and is member of a number of professional organizations including the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM).
