Biography

With More than 4 decades (44 years) of experience in UK & UAE in this specialty, Dr. Mrs. Verma came to the UAE from the UK more than 3 decades ago, as a Consultant and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Sharjah Kuwaiti Hospital. She subsequently moved to Al Zahra Pvt. Hospital, Sharjah in June 1988. In 1981 Sharjah Kuwaiti Hospital had only 26 beds, poor facilities and a high rate of birth injuries. With her hard work, dedication and determination, Dr. Verma managed to bring about the changes required not only to modernise the facility but also to improve the medical care to international standards. A challenging task though! After 7 years, in 1988, just before she left to join Al Zahra Hospital, it was a 99 bed unit with a well established labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, gynaecological wards, latest fetal monitors and better outcomes. For 26 years, she was with Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah as a Senior Consultant. And for the last 21 years (September 1993 to April 2014) she has also been working at Al Zahra Medical Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai, a satellite branch of Al Zahra Hospital, since the start of this branch. Over the last 33 years, she has given round-the-clock service, her expertise and time to develop the departments at both Kuwaiti as well as Al Zahra Hospital, introducing the new technologies especially in the field of Endoscopy, Diagnostics and Operative service. To give the best to her patients, she has always been readily accessible. Since the advent of mobile technology she had her mobile number on her visiting card. Her patients had the liberty to call her anytime of the day or night, whether she is in or out the country. Dr. Verma has been delivering all her booked patients herself, unless travelling abroad. She takes pride in the little bundles of joy she brings in to this world as for her “To Give a life is to have a life”. After 33 years in Sharjah and with MOH, and more than 26 years with Al Zahra Hospitals, Dr. Verma decided to make a move and she joined the Institute for Biophysical Medicine (IFBM) in Dubai Healthcare City a Free Zone in Dubai.
