Aram Amassian

Asscioate Professor
physical science and engineering division
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia

Biography

Professor Amassian's research interests lie in the area of molecular materials for electronic and solar energy applications. Such materials are of high interest due to their potential to become an inexpensive platform for manufacturing pervasive, disposable electronic and solar energy devices. Professor Amassian's group investigates the assembly of molecules and the formation of functional nanostructures, nanocomposites, and thin films with controlled 2D and 3D interfaces by vacuum and solution processes. Amassian's aim is to push the envelope on our understanding of these novel and complex materials. Professor Amassian uses powerful time-resolved scattering techniques (X-ray, electron, neutron, and optical), spectroscopy, and microscopy tools to probe the formation and behavior of these materials in a laboratory setting. Amassian and his students leverage the molecular-scale understanding of the assembly, growth and properties of molecular materials. They then develop novel processing strategies and improve the performance and efficiency of electronic and photovoltaic devices.
