Biography

Hamza Abdulghani is Professor of Medical Education and Consultant Family Physician. He is currently, Head of the Assessment & Evaluation Unit, and Assessment Centre, Department of Medical Education, College of Medicine, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Professor Abdulghani is an Educationist and Family Physician, with a special interest in assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He has established the centralized assessment system in the College of Medicine. He has organized and conducted many faculty development workshops, in different medical colleges. He is a member of the Examination Committee for Post- graduate Family Medicine Program since its inception in 1997, at Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). He is a consultant for many newly established, and old medical colleges, and an external examiner for different medical colleges, for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Professor Abdulghani consultations and workshops have focused on clinical teaching and learning, feedback skills and different types of assessment. He has published about 50 articles in reputable peer reviewed journals in medical education as well as in family medicine topics. He is the author of the book "An Essential Guide for Developing, Implementing, and Evaluating Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)" and has written many chapters in many scientific medical education books. His current research interests include the development and improvement of an assessment system that produces an innovative, more valid, and reliable assessment materials.
