Abiot Mindaye Tessema

Biography

Abiot joined Zayed University in August 2012 as assistant professor of accounting upon completion of his PhD. He earned his doctorate degree in Accounting from Maastricht University in December 2013. He earned his Master of Science in Social Protection Financing (Economics) from Maastricht University in 2007, a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy, and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Maastricht School of Management (MsM) in 2005. He was named as an outstanding MBA graduate in the 2005/06 academic year. He was also the first person to have received two MBA degrees at the same time in MsM’s history. Abiot earned a Bachelor degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University in 2000. Abiot served as a lecturer, chairman of accounting department, research and strategy development director, leadership development program director, and research and publication officer. He has also served as a managing editor for Ethiopian Journal of Business and Development. He was named as a best lecturer of the 2001-02 academic year and best employee of the year in 2006 by Unity University’s Board. He is an active member of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
