Thomas A. Dubrey

Biography

Thomas A. Dubrey earned his Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance from Worcester State College. After graduating from Worcester State, Tom successfully passed the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination. This exam is widely accepted as one of the most difficult professional examinations, often compared to the Bar Exam taken by attorneys. After passing the CPA exam, Tom continued his education at Bentley University where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Taxation. Tom's coursework focused on high level accounting and tax courses in areas such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), Domestic and International Taxation of Businesses and Individuals, as well as, IRS Conflict Resolution. During his time at Bentley, Tom also participated in a volunteer low income tax clinic that focused on resolving actual tax controversies including offers in compromise and voluntary disclosure. Tom began his career working in regional accounting firms serving small business tax and audit clients in central Massachusetts. Most of the clients Tom began working with were small service and manufacturing companies, as well as, individuals. As his experience increased, Tom was given the opportunity to work as the primary Relationship Manager on large accounts with revenues in excess of $500 million and operations in many countries. He also managed the tax planning and compliance work for high net worth individuals who require complex planning strategies. Tom left the full-time practice of public accounting in 2007 when he accepted a position as Domestic Tax Manager for an $8 billion Fortune 500 manufacturing company. This experience provided Tom with an increased awareness of tax planning and strategies that are only available to the most elite taxpayers. During his absence from the full-time practice of public accounting, Tom continued to strengthen his small business and individual skills by working with local accounting firms on a contract basis and maintaining a portfolio of individual and small business clients on his own. One of the areas of his professional life Tom is most proud of is his ability to develop and maintain solid relationships with leaders in the accounting profession. Tom has aligned himself with some of Massachusetts' finest accounting and tax professionals including many accounting professors and practitioners with countless years of experience. This network provides Tom with the ability to tackle even the most complex issues with confidence. Today, Thomas A. Dubrey is focused on applying his knowledge, education and experience to the clients he serves. He offers a wide variety of accounting, audit and tax services to individuals, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. His experience enables him to meet the changing needs of the clients he serves as they grow and prosper. Tom was born and raised in Sturbridge and currently resides in Holland, Massachusetts with his wife and children. Above all else, Tom is a father who enjoys being active in his children's lives by volunteering at their school and remaining active in their daily lives. He is also heavily involved in his community, serving as the Chairman of the Town of Holland Finance Committee and the President of Massaconet Shores association.
