Biography
Dr Wong Nan Yaw is a General Surgeon with clinical interest in the colorectal surgeon. He completed his MBBS from the National university of Singapore in 1993. After a few years of practice, he developed a passionate interest in surgical diseases and decided to embark on a career in surgery and since 2008, Dr Wong Nan Yaw has started his own private practice at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Center. His practice focuses on the diagnosis and therapy of both benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum and anus. This includes diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for the early detection of cancers, the surgical treatment of hemorrhoids (piles), perianal abscesses and fistulae, and surgery of colorectal cancers. Dr Wong Nan Yaw successfully obtained his Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1998. The increasing incidence of colorectal cancers in South East Asia prompted him to sub-specialize in colorectal surgery. Dr Wong Nan Yaw trained in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital, which is an internationally recognized center of excellence for the treatment of colorectal diseases. In 2002 he was awarded an Exchange Fellowship to spend a year training at the Bradford Royal Infirmary in the United Kingdom. Dr Wong Nan Yaw obtained his specialist accreditation with the Singapore Medical Council in 2003.
