Biography
Stryker has a long and proud record of leadership, commitment and support for the Medical Technology industry in Asia Pacific. Stryker operates in a very broad range of MedTech sectors including theatre and hospital equipment, beds, surgical consumables, neuro technology and orthopaedic implants (maxillio-facial, spine, joints and trauma). APACMed has a pivotal role to play in sustaining the development of our vibrant industry. It is in our interests to have a united and strong voice to represent our members with all key stakeholders including government, regulators, insurers/funders and other interest groups across diverse Asia Pacific markets. This is a critical period as the Medtech industry matures into one that is now a significant contributor to the healthcare equation in Asia Pacific. Our customers and governments are increasingly coming under funding pressures which requires a different and smarter industry response, whilst regulators are seeking to raise the bar and cost of market access. We need to be able to articulate solutions and constructive reforms which will meet these challenges and also enable our industry to continue to flourish through responsible innovation which allows patients access to excellent, cost effective healthcare. In this environment, we also need to ensure that APACMed remains relevant to all its members, remains viable with continuing growth in the membership base, and partners closely with both country and sister organisations such as EucoMed and AdvaMed. I have worked for Stryker for 12 years with extensive experience across Asia Pacific. My current role is President Asia Pacific and I sit on the Stryker global Executive Leadership team. I was formerly President of Stryker Australia/New Zealand and sat on the MTAA Board for 3 years, then recently President of Stryker Japan and sat on the AMDD Board for 2 years. I have front line experience of the challenges and issues in key markets in the region. I offer a unique set of skills and experience including 20 years of leadership in food and drinks businesses, consulting, as well as MedTech. I have governance experience, having worked closely with public listed company boards and voluntary organisations, am a member of the Institute of Company Directors and a qualified accountant. My detailed profile is available on LinkedIn. I have recently relocated to Singapore and look forward to working with you and contributing significantly to our industry on a broader scale over the coming years.
