Dr. Tan Yah Yuen

Biography

Dr YY Tan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Glasgow. She furthered her interest in breast cancer surgery and treatment on a Ministry of Health Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, USA.  She was formerly Senior Consultant at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she helped to set up the new Breast Unit, the only specialized surgical department in Singapore dedicated to dealing solely with breast diseases.  In KKH, she pioneered the Sentinel Lymph Node Program and this procedure is now the standard of care for women with early breast cancer.
