Biography
Dr Gerald Koh is currently an Associate Professor and Director of Medical Undergraduate Education at Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, and Joint Associate Professor at Dean’s Office, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, National University Health System. A medical doctor, he obtained his Masters in Family Medicine in 2000 and Fellowship in Family Medicine in 2003. He developed an interest in community geriatrics and geriatric rehabilitation, and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from NUS in 2002, a Masters in Gerontology and Geriatrics from the European Institute of Gerontology at the University of Malta in 2009, and his PhD in Family Medicine from Western University, Canada in 2012.To date, he has published 55 original research articles and 32 shorter articles in journals. Currently, he is Principal Investigator for a community-based follow-up cohort study on the health, functional, social and financial effects of stroke on survivors and their caregivers in the first post-stroke year in collaboration with co-investigators from Duke-NUS HSSR Program. He is also Principal Investigator for a randomized controlled trial on effectiveness of tele-rehabilitation using sensors and video-conferencing on functional recovery and adherence to supervised therapy in post-stroke patients.
Research Interest
His current research interests include stroke and geriatric rehabilitation, health services research in the intermediate and long-term care sector, and medical education.
