Biography
Dr Chew Sophia obtained her MBBS from the National University of Singapore and subsequently trained to be an anesthesiologist. She gotten her MMED(Anaesthesia) from the National University of Singapore and the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthestists. She did a fellowship training in cardiac anaesthesia at the Duke University Medical Centre in the United States of America. Dr Chew Sophia is currently the Director of Research at the Department of Anaesthesiology at the Singapore General Hospital and oversee research within the department as well as trained medical students in research from both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School. To date, many of her students have presented their works at both local, international meetings. Many of them have also won numerous awards for their abstract presentations both locally and internationally. As a mentor to medical students, she was awarded the Wong Hock Boon-Singapore Medical Association Outstanding Mentor Award in 2013.
Research Interest
Perioperative medicine, risk models, glycaemic control, acute kidney injury in the perioperative period, genomics and safety outcome after cardiac surgery.
