Ciara Bergin

Biography

    Ciara is an Irish Speech and Language Therapist who studied at the University College Cork, Ireland. She is fully registered with Allied Health Professions Council in Singapore. She is also a member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists and is dysphagia qualified. Ciara has provided a speech and language therapy service to a variety of crèches, preschools and primary schools in Ireland. This involved providing training, coaching and up-skilling to parents and educators in order to improve the speech and language outcomes of children aged 0-6. Ciara has experience with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of communication and swallowing disorders. These include speech and language delays and disorders, dyspraxia, pragmatic language impairments, voice disorders, dysarthria, aphasia, cognitive impairment and disorders of swallowing. She has worked with a varied population including those with autism, Down syndrome and global developmental delay. Ciara is particularly interested in working with people with autism and intellectual disabilities. Ciara is committed to continuing her professional development as a Speech and Language Therapist. She is certified in Lámh Module 1 (sign language for people special needs). Ciara has provided Elklan Speech and Language Support for Under 5s training to early years educators. She has completed a course in Autism Awareness. Ciara has carried out research which has looked at the relationship between shared book reading and language development amongst a nationally representative sample of three year olds. Ciara is committed to providing creative and adaptable speech and language therapy while ensuring it is personalised for each individual client.
