Surbhi Fernandes

Biography

  Surbhi is a Speech Language Therapist from New Zealand. She completed her Masters in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Auckland in 2007. She has worked in both New Zealand and Australia and has been registered with both the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association and Speech Pathology Australia. Surbhi has extensive experience working in the early intervention sector with children 0-7 years, with a range of additional needs and diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome and global developmental delay. She is interested in working with families from culturally diverse backgrounds, feeding difficulties in young children, working with families to support children’s behaviour and key word sign. She has worked in childcare, pre-school, school, home and clinic settings. She is experienced in delivering training to families to support communication and interaction, and is certified to deliver the Hanen “It Takes Two to Talk” and “More Than Words” workshops. She is passionate about developing language, social and play skills, using daily routines and play activities and working with families and careers to help support their child’s communication needs. Surbhi is enthusiastic about making a difference in her work with children, helping them grow and develop, reach their potential and participate in the community.
