Dr Michael Laufer

Biography

Michael D. Laufer, M.D., is the founder of more than fifteen medical companies and his inventions are the subject of over 200 issued or in process patents. He is the Founder of Asthmatx, Inc. Dr Laufer is also the Founder and past or present Director of VNUS Medical Technologies, Broncus Technologies and several other private companies. He was the Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at UCSF Mount Zion Medical Center in San Francisco, and is a member of the academic and clinical faculty at Stanford University, and of Harvard Medical School. He is a founding partner of MachLabs, LP, a venture capital firm. Dr Laufer is a graduate of the University of Colorado, B.S. in Biological Sciences - MCDB, with distinction, and the Stanford University School of Medicine, M.D. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA and did a post-graduate fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.
