Yap-whang Hwee Yong

Biography

Dr Whang Hwee Yong is a consultant medical oncologist with Singapore Oncology Consultants. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine / Medical Oncology and has been a member of the American Association of Cancer Research and American Society of Clinical Oncology since 1977.  She was an Internist / Associate Professor of Medicine with the Department of Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA). During her stint, she was involved in numerous research activities, and was the Principal Investigator for Phase I/II developmental therapeutics and other research protocols for the treatment of breast cancer, brain tumors and CNS metastases. Her special interest is in Cancer Chemotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology treatment of Breast, Central Nervous System and Hepatic Metastases.   In 1984, she was elected as a Fellowto the Board of American College of Physicians, and a member of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
