Biography
Dr. Berkeley has been a leader in the field of infertility and assisted reproduction since 1979. Before moving to NYU in 1995, where he is a Professor and Attending as well as the Medical Director of the Fertility Center, Dr. Berkeley was the residency director in obstetrics and gynecology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center for 16 years. In 1986, he founded the IVF program at Cornell and, in 1988, was named director of gynecology at New York Hospital. During his tenure there, he was instrumental in developing advanced programs in laser and laparoscopic surgery and complex gynecologic surgery. He also developed a special interest in the surgical correction of congenital anomalies-for which he is frequently consulted.
Research Interest
Dr. Berkeley has published more than 80 scientific articles, chapters and abstracts. During his distinguished career, he also has received numerous honors and awards. Dr. Berkeley was named one of the "401 Best Doctors for Women in America" by Good Housekeeping magazine in 1997, and has been repeatedly named one of the best doctors in New York. In 1998, he was awarded an achievement award from RESOLVE for "outstanding dedication and commitment to the mission of creating families".
