Dr Chen Yuan Tud, Richard

Biography

 ·         Dr Richard Chen is an endocrinologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in diabetes, thyroid disorders, male hypogonadism (lack of testosterone production) and andropause (male menopause). ·         Dr Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1991. Thereafter, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1999. With a keen interest in testosterone deficiency in men and in andropause, Dr Chen then spent a sabbatical year at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia in 2003 to pursue his interest. He subsequently qualified as a specialist in endocrinology and internal medicine in 2004. He was elected as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, UK and as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2009. ·         Dr Chen was formerly the chief of the Department of Endocrinology at the Changi General Hospital (CGH) in Singapore from 2008 – 2014. USA. Having served in various executive positions in the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore (EMSS) since 2005, he was elected as the society's president from 2010 – 2012. Dr Chen was also appointed the associate program director of the Singhealth internal medicine residency programme from 2009 – 2013 and was part of the core faculty of the Singhealth endocrinology residency from 2012 – 2014. ·         Apart from clinical work, Dr Chen was an adjunct assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine from 2010 – 2012. Since 2007, he has also been involved in organising the course in advanced endocrinology, an international bi-annual meeting jointly held by the EMSS and the Mayo Clinic, USA.
