Biography
Dr. Saumya Jamuar is a co-founder of Global Gene Corp and currently a Visiting Scientist at Harvard Medical School, US.Dr. Jamuar strongly believes in using the advancements made in technologies related to genetics to improve the health of people. His strong training in paediatrics allows him to appreciate the severity of rare but lethal childhood illnesses and, more importantly, recognise the fact that a significant proportion of these illnesses have a genetic component. In his desire to improve care across the health industry, he is actively involved in developing diagnostic genetic tests for patients with various medical disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and brain malformations.Dr. Jamuar has a broad range of research interests and has published several reports and made presentations at international meetings on inherited genetic diseases such as hemoglobinopathy, inherited metabolic diseases and chromosomal disorders. He is currently involved in understanding the genetics of human brain development and has in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge genetic technologies, such as whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and microarrays.He is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics, American College of Medical Genetics, Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders and Singapore Medical Society.Dr. Jamuar holds an MBBS in Medicine from National University of Singapore. He also holds a Membership of the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (M.R.C.P.C.H), UK, and a Fellowship of Academy of Medicine (F.A.M.S), Singapore. He has completed his Clinical Genetics training from the Harvard Medical School Genetics Training Program.
