Wan Kum Tho

Biography

Prior to that, Kum Tho was Executive Director (Investment) at UOB Venture Management. He was a member of the Management Committee, and General Manager of a joint venture fund platform, where his responsibility included investing into growth companies, monitoring of portfolio companies and divestments and distributions to shareholders. Before joining UOB Venture, Kum Tho spent 5 years helping to grow a startup to a company of more than 1800 employees, with a subsidiary in Singapore and the buildup of 2 subsidiaries in Suzhou, China. Through the process, he was VP of Finance and Administration and subsequently VP for Strategic Planning and Administration. He also helped see its holding company through a public listing. Kum Tho started his venture capital and private equity career in Vertex Management, where for 9 years, he invested in companies based in China, Taiwan, Singapore and the US. Kum Tho obtained his BBA (Honours) from the National University of Singapore and completed the Berkeley Executive Program at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.
