Biography
Robert Edgell was appointed Non-Executive Director of InfraCo Asia Development Pte. Ltd on 1 July 2013. Robert is a retired private power company executive who pioneered the Edison Mission Energy Company (EME) beginning in 1982 from a small California based cogeneration developer, to a world-wide private power development and acquisition company with assets over $ 5 billion. From 1995 to 2005, Robert was President of EME Asia based in Singapore, where he and his team developed or acquired power projects in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Edgell served as Deputy Chairman of Contact Energy, a public company in New Zealand from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, all of EME foreign assets were sold to a consortium of Mitsui of Japan and International Power of the UK and Robert retired from EME. In 2006, Mr. Edgell went to Atlanta, Georgia to become COO of Mirant Corporation, a private power company that had filed bankruptcy. During his three year contract with Mirant, Robert and the senior management team restructured and reorganised the company, sold Mirant’s foreign assets, and successfully re-listed the company on the NYSE. At the expiration of his contract in 2009, Robert has concentrated on personal equity, alternative, and real estate investments in the U.S. and Asia. Mr.Edgell is a graduate electrical engineer with BSEE and MSEE degrees and is a Registered Professional Engineer in California. He is the Managing Director of Private Power International Development Company Pte. Ltd., a Singapore registered company, engaging in consulting services to the infrastructure development business sectors.
