Biography
Dr Currie Chiang obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Singapore in 1980. Following her training in ophthalmology at the Eye Department of the Singapore General Hospital, she went to the UK to work with Professor Noel Rice at the Corneal Clinic. She completed her fellowship at the Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, and at the Princess Alexendra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh. She obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (FRCS) in 1986. Returning to Singapore, Dr Chiang worked at the Department of Ophthalmology at SGH before joining private practice in Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre. Dr Chiang established her own practice in Mt Elizabeth in 1993, where she has developed special interest in the anterior segment, including cataract and refractive surgery. The list of her professional accomplishments follows. She has written and presented many papers locally and overseas. A consultant to Toa Payoh Hospital, she has co-written a book 101 Questions and Answers on Cataracts and Implants, and served on the editorial board of the journals Implants in Ophthalmology and The Asia Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology.
