Biography
Andreas Hecker joined Leica Microsystems in March 2004 as an Optic Design Engineer. He worked as a Senior Project Manager for the sites Wetzlar and Mannheim before he became Head of Software Development for the Life Science Division in 2009. Between 2011–2013, he has also served as R&D Director Digital Pathology at Leica Biosystems and as Global Director Software Development for Leica Microsystems. In August 2014 he took over the position as Vice President Global Research & Development. Andreas has completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Bochum in Germany. After having earned his doctorate in the field of Laser Physics and Spectroscopy, he was heading a small team for Laser Scanning Microscopy for IR at the university.
