Biography
I am currently a Junior Data Scientist with Merck - known as MSD outside of USA and Canada. I consider myself 35% Mathematician, 35% Statistician, 20% Computer scientist and 10% business. My passion lies in Applied Mathematics, Algorithm Design,Data Analytics, Statistics, Machine Learning. In my free time now, i spend at least half a day weekly to upgrade myself with new tools, this keeps me updated with technology as it is rapidly changing and we have to constantly challenge our knowledge! Going to start on Kaggle soon to hone my feature engineering skills. As an Data Scientist with an ENTJ personality, i enjoy implementing my ideas into actionable plans and execute them while influencing others. I am able to transit between the 'big picture' and the 'technical' aspect of things easily and able to explain technical concepts to a wide range of audience in simple terms. This allows me to wear multiple hats in an organisation, which is essential in this era where solutions are data driven and being a Data Scientist. In addition, i think it is very important for a Data Scientist to have a certain degree of Data Engineering skills in order to work better together by understanding the implications of you are doing. Hence recently, i have been playing around with AWS and in the near future AZURE as i believe cloud is the way to go. I have experience in setting up instances programatically and perform scheduled tasks or spin up clusters/s3/re-using EBS storages to perform analysis. if your organization is interested in a generalist like me (yet to specialize in data science), embraces the cloud (or better - you have your own internal cluster) and is willing to provide me with a mac ( i work better with an UNIX environment - BYOD is acceptable too) please do reach out to me!
