David F. Snively

Biography

 ave Snively is Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of Monsanto Company, where he leads the company’s global legal strategy and oversees both the legal and environmental, safety and health (ESH) organizations.  He also serves as secretary to the Board of Directors. Dave and his team work to advance the company’s industry-leading position in agriculture sciences by providing guidance on legal and regulatory affairs, commercial operations, acquisitions, compliance requirements, and domestic and international policy issues. They also work closely with Monsanto’s scientists to ensure unique products and technologies are protected by patent.  Dave first joined Monsanto’s legal department more than thirty years ago and was appointed general counsel in 2006. Over the course of his career, he has been responsible for the company’s legal strategies for patent, environmental, antitrust, regulatory and intellectual property issues.  Dave was instrumental in the development of the company’s intellectual property strategy to protect Monsanto’s innovative biotechnology products and significant investments in research and development. Dave and his wife, Diane, live in St. Louis, where he is actively involved in the community.  He is a founding director of the Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri and Chairman of the Board of Life Teen International, an international Catholic youth ministry program.
