Biography

Dr Chui graduated from the National University of Singapore with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1990. He subsequently completed his basic surgical training and obtained his fellowship diploma in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow (FRCS). He underwent advanced surgical training in Paediatric Surgery under the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Upon his successful completion of the programme, he was awarded the Certificate of Specialist Accreditation in Paediatric Surgery by the Ministry of Health, Singapore. In 1999, Dr Chui was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship for a 24-month fellowship programme in Paediatric Surgical Oncology at the renowned St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tennessee, USA. Upon his return, he led in the development of Paediatric Surgical Oncology in KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), Singapore. Besides providing cutting-edge surgical techniques to his patients, he has also built on research and training the younger generation of paediatric surgeons. He established the Children's Cancer Research Laboratory in 2003 researching into childhood solid malignancies. He has made multiple presentations in international medical conferences and has published extensively in many peer-reviewed international and local journals. He was awarded the Best Clinical Teacher Award by KKH in 2003. He was one of the pioneering surgeons who developed the Paediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Programme at KKH.
