Surojit Shome

Biography

Mr. Surojit Shome has been Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of DBS Bank Ltd., India since April 2015. Mr. Shome has been Country Head of DBS Bank Ltd. at DBS Group Holdings Ltd. since April 15, 2015. He joined DBS in April 2015 from Rabobank, where he served as Country Head of Dutch lender RabobankIndia. He served as Chief Executive Officer for Rabobank in India from 2009 to 2015. He has more than 29 years of experience. He has been a banker for most of his career and has had significant exposure to commercial banking, capital markets & investment banking and retail banking. He joined Rabobank in 2009. He served as Head of Corporate Banking in India of Citigroup Inc. since November 7, 2005. He joined Citigroup in 1988 and in the past 17 years has assumed a variety of product, sales and senior leadership positions including an off-shore assignment in Dubai as Unit Head for the mortgage group, Regional Corporate Bank Head roles in North and South India and industry head positions for auto sector. He served as Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking of India Operations at Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. Mr. Shome served as a Director of Citicorp Finance (India) Limited. He also worked with Citibank, Lehman Brothers and Nomura Securities. He is a managing committee member of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry; he serves as Co-Chair of the Country Business Council (India) for the World Economic Forum’s global New Vision for Agriculture initiative. Mr. Shome attended the Executive Development Program at The Wharton School in 2004, the Rabobank Senior Leadership Program at the Harvard Business School in 2011 and the Private Equity Programme at Oxford Said Business School in 2011. Mr. Shome holds a Post-Graduate Management Degree in Marketing & Finance from Xavier School of Management (XLRI) in 1986 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics (major), Mathematics & Statistics from Presidency College, Kolkata.
