Biography

Professor Chua Chee Kai obtained his Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University in 1996. He received MSc and BEng (Hons) 1st Class Degree in 1989 and 1985 respectively. Prof Chua has been involved in 3D Printing (3DP), previously known as Rapid Prototyping (RP) since 1990. On-going research at NTU include development of new systems, materials and techniques in biomedical applications (prostheses, implants, devices and tissue scaffolds) using 3DP. Prof Chua is the world’s most published and most cited scientist in 3D Printing. He has been invited as a keynote speaker to several international conferences to talk about "Trends of 3D Printing" and “3D Printing in Tissue Engineering” and has sat on the International Programme Committee for more than 14 International Conferences devoted to 3DP and other manufacturing technologies. In addition, he has been widely consulted by industries on 3DP-related problems. He has contributed more than 200 technical papers in local seminars, technical talks, international conferences and journals, generating more than 6200 citations and more than 60 3DP Courses. The courses were conducted for the industry in Singapore and abroad including the Wuhan Automotive University Polytechnic in China, and Thomson Multimedia, Maxtor Peripherals, Flexmech Engineering, Institute of Technical Education, SIMTech, OSIM, Tyco Electronics, Defence Science Organisation (DSO), Ngee Ann Polytechnic and NUS High School of Mathematics and Science.
