Biography

Prof Miao Jianmin is a faculty with the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering since 1998. He received his bachelor degree from the Tongji University Shanghai, Dipl.-Ing. (Master) and Dr.-Ing. (PhD) degree in Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS)/Sensor Technology from the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. Professor Miao established the Micromachines (MEMS) Centre (Lab) as the Founding Director. He has collaborated with MIT since 2008 and has been carrying out high impact research in environmental sensing at CENSAM/SMART. He has supervised/being supervising about 50 PhD research students/research fellows, published nearly 400 academic papers in the international journals/conferences in the field of MEMS/Sensors, and has served/been serving the best and most top journals and conferences in the field as follows: Editor, Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems; Editor, Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering; Editor, Sensors; Executive Technical Program Committee Member, Transducers International Conference; Technical Program Committee Member, IEEE MEMS International Conference; Chief Delegate of Singapore, Micromachine Summit. Professor Miao leads a multidisciplinary team focusing on MEMS, biomimetic and bio-inspired sensors for environmental monitoring applications. He is the principle investigator (PI) and Co-PI of several projects funded by NRF, EDB, A*STAR, MOE, NTU.
