Biography
Dr Chetan completed medical school at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sewagram in India. Having a keen interest in research, he pursued a Master of Science degree in Molecular Medicine from Penn State University Pennsylvania USA. Subsequently, he completed his training in Paediatrics from Cook County Hospital in Chicago and a fellowship in Paediatric Oncology from MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston. During his fellowship, he worked in the laboratory, studying T regulatory cells and the basis of cellular therapy in cancer treatment. He specialises in the treatment of paediatric bone and soft tissue sarcomas. He is also interested in the application of cell based therapies for solid tumors in the clinical setting. Dr Chetan and a team of physicians from the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) are spearheading an Adolescent and Young Adult team to meet the special requirements of cancer patients between the age group of 18 to 25 years as they are a unique group who do not fall completely under the realm of paediatrics or in the elderly age group.
