Biography

Prof Dr. Tong CAO has received his PhD in Showa University, Japan in 1999. Currently, he is working as Vice Dean of Research, Director of Oral Sciences Disciplines and tenured academic staff in Faculty of Dentistry, National University Health System, and National University Singapore. He has successfully served as international reviewer for renowned scientific agencies like Cancer Research UK, The Wellcome Trust UK, The Austrian Science Fund Austria, National Medical research Council Singapore, and Ministry of Science and Technology Israel. He has also served as reviewer for 46 international journals including Cell Death and Differentiation, Nature Protocols. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like World Journal of Stem Cells, Stem Cell Studies and Current Tissue Engineering. He has authored 103 research articles in international peer review journals and books. He has been honoured as Honorary Professorship, Guest Professorship and Visiting Professorship in several international famous universities.

Research Interest

His main research interests include HESC platforms for study of health, ageing, systemic and oral diseases. Derivation of healthy and stable human cells and tissues from hESC. Creation of hESC derived human platform for efficient health assessment and therapy trial . Differentiated hESC tissue models for toxicological and pharmacological screening/testing. Clinical and biological design of systemic and oral implant and scaffold for tissue and organ repair.
