Biography
Dr Audrey Tan completed her basic medical education (MBBS) at the National University of Singapore in 1996. After receiving her postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine (MRCP, UK) in 2000, she specialized in Dermatology, achieving her specialist accreditation in Dermatology in 2004 (FAMS). Dr Tan trained in various aspects of Medical and Inpatient Dermatology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 2005 and 2006 under the Human Manpower Development Programme of the Ministry of Health. During her fellowship she also participated in Dermatology research related to connective tissue diseases and rheumatological diseases. Prior to joining the Thomson Specialist Skin Centre, Dr Tan was a consultant dermatologist at the National Skin Centre, Singapore. She was Chief of the Immunodermatology Unit and Consultant in-charge of the Inpatient Dermatology Team. She was also chairperson of the Centre’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr Tan was a visiting consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, assisting in the management of skin problems of inpatients of the hospital for several years. Apart from expertise in general Dermatology, she has special interests in autoimmune blistering skin conditions, vasculitis and cutaneous problems of rheumatological conditions including lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis and scleroderma. Dr Tan has also participated actively in Dermatology research at the National Skin Centre, and received grants from the National Medical Research Council for research in acne vulgaris, immunobullous diseases and cutaneous lupus erythematosus amongst others. She was a clinical teacher for the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Medicine.
