Biography
Physician Tan graduated from the pioneer batch of the joint double degree programme in Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Sciences by Nanyang Technological University and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) in 2010. She was registered as a TCM Physician in the same year. In 2011, Physician Tan was awarded a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council. She graduated with a Master degree in TCM in 2014. Physician Tan’s clinical training includes attachment to BUCM’s affiliated Dongfang Hospital and Guo Yi Tang Outpatient Clinic. Extensive training in Rheumatology and other Internal Medicine departments has provided her with exposure to TCM and Conventional Medicine treatment methods. Physician Tan’s clinical interests lie in the use of herbal medication and acupuncture for pain management, including the treatment of rheumatologic diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and Sjogren’s syndrome. She also deals with dermatological conditions (psoriasis, hives, and eczema) and women’s health problems (menstrual irregularities, menopause). Her interests in other areas include digestive problems, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory conditions, endocrine disorders and neurological problems.
