Dr. Marcus Ang

Biography

Dr Marcus Ang is Consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He attained his medical degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and was awarded Dean’s List for academic excellence and the Best Houseman Award in 2005. His other early academic achievements include the Ministry of Health Scholarship, Masters in Clinical Investigation (NUS) and Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology, NUS). He was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) after being awarded with the four FAMS Examination Medals. He further developed his clinical specialty in Cornea Transplantation and was rewarded with a Hon. Consultant position at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. Dr Ang is also very active beyond his clinical responsibilities: he is Assistant Professor at DUKE-NUS, teaches undergraduates as Clinical Lecturer (NUS), and organising charity events with the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology. His contributions to society and volunteer humanitarian work in Singapore and developing countries has been recognized with national awards such as the Healthcare Humanity Award in 2012 and Young Eye Care Ambassador award in 2013 (Eye & Vision Health Awards, Singapore); as well as international awards such as the Excellence in Ophthalmology Vision Award (XOVA International 2013). He has more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed, international journals and regularly presents at international meetings, such as those organised by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

His current clinical areas of expertise include: • Cornea and External Eye Diseases • Cornea Transplantation, including new techniques of Endothelial Keratoplasty • Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery, with the option for presbyopic solutions • Femtosecond LASIK and other Refractive surgical options
