Biography
Paula Lam, Ph.D. is adjunct associate professor of NUS, Department of Physiology and Duke-NUS, Cancer Stem Cell Program. She currently serves as the international committee member for the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT), assisting with the development of international programs for ASGCT annual meeting. A major research focus lies on the development of targeting vectors through the modification of viruses (replication competent and defective) and human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells for improved delivery of therapeutic proteins to brain and liver cancers. Recent work has focused on deciphering the underlying mechanism that leads to the progression of human glioblastoma multiforme, and how conventional and innovative therapeutic modalities can affect the treatment outcome.
Research Interest
Elucidating the migratory activities of mesenchymal stem cells and its potential interaction with the tumor cells in the microenvironment, and to generate effective oncolytic viruses against HCC and brain tumors.
