Biography
Dr Sim is currently the Director of Breast Imaging in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. He was trained under Dr Jan Hendriks and Professor Roland Holland at the National Expert and Training Centre for Breast Cancer Screening, Netherlands as well as under Professor Christiane Kuhl at the University of Bonn Medical Centre. A Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore as well as a member of the Singapore Radiological Society, Dr Sim is also a Visiting Consultant to the National Cancer Centre and Changi General Hospital. His other appointments include Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore, Assistant Professor at Duke NUS Graduate Medical School and a member of the National Breast Cancer Screening Programme Workgroup on Digital Mammography. He won the Gold Award for Scientific Poster Presentation at the 13th ASEAN Congress of Radiology 2006, Best Scientific Poster Award for Combined Asian Breast Disease Association and Breast Screen Singapore Breast Cancer Conference 2007, RSNA 2008 Merit Award for Educational Exhibit, Best Oral Scientific Paper at 13th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology 2010, 2nd prize for Best Scientific Exhibit at 74th ASM of Canadian Association of Radiologists 2011, He was also awarded the SGH Service with a Heart Award in a 2004 and 2006 and Singapore Health Quality Service Silver Award 2014. Dr Sim’s current interests include breast tomosynthesis, computer-aided detection, breast elastography, automated breast ultrasound, breast MRI screening of high risk women and image-guided breast biopsy.
