Biography
Dr David Tan is a Consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. His subspecialty interests are in Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary cancers, and Gynae-Oncology. His research interest is in Gastrointestinal cancers. Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and commenced training in Radiation Oncology in 2007 after successfully completing his housemanship. In 2011, Dr Tan was awarded a fellowship by Singapore Health Services for a 2-year fellowship in the United Kingdom to undergo training in Advanced Oncology. There, he trained under internationally renowned experts in the field of gastrointestinal and gynaecological cancers at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Middlesex. Having returned to Singapore in April 2014, Dr Tan has continued his clinical practice in the same tumour sub-sites whilst furthering his research interests through involvement in clinical trials, publications in oncology journals and participation in international collaborative projects. He is currently a committee member in the metastatic anal cancer subgroup of the International Rare Cancer Initiative (IRCI), which aims to facilitate the development of international clinical trials for patients with rare cancers.
