Biography
Dr Yoon-Sim Yap is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore, and Visiting Consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She obtained her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Adelaide in Australia, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. After completing her specialist training in Medical Oncology in Australia, she did a research fellowship with the Breast Unit at Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Dr. Yap has been practising in Singapore since 2006, focusing mainly on breast cancer. Her research interests include predictive biomarkers and development of novel treatment strategies. She is actively involved in clinical trials, and is the Principal Investigator of several studies in addition to investigator-initiated studies. As the Deputy Director of the Division of Community Outreach and Philanthropy in National Cancer Centre Singapore, Dr. Yap also aims to promote cancer awareness in the local population through public education, and provide holistic management of cancer patients through patient support groups and programs.
