Biography
Kanaga Sabapathy obtained his B.Sc (Hons) degree in Zoology from the National Univ. of Singapore, and then obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular & Cellular Immunology from the Institute of Molecular & Cellular Biology, Singapore. His post-doctoral work was conducted at the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna with Dr Erwin Wagner, studying stress signaling using genetically-engineered mice. He has since been at the National Cancer Centre Singapore for the last 14 years, as the Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis, and more recently, as the overall Head of the Division of Cellular & Molecular Research, overseeing its research activities. He is also the Research Director of the recently initiated Academic Clinical Program in Oncology. Dr Sabapathy is a Professor with the Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Program at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, and a joint Professor with the Department of Biochemistry at the National Univ. of Singapore. His group focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in cancer development and progression, through the study of the p53 and p73 tumor suppressor paradigms. His research is aimed at both understanding the molecular nature of cancer and to design effective targeted-therapies against the disease.
Research Interest
