Biography
Dr Laurence Lim is a Consultant in the Vitreo-Retinal department of SNEC, and concurrently an Adjunct Asst. Professor at both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He is also the Consultant in Charge of Medical Operations at SNEC and Visiting Consultant Retina Surgeon at Changi General Hospital. He was awarded the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (2015). He specializes in medical & surgical management of both adult and pediatric retinal diseases. These include age related age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, floaters & retinal detachment in adults, and retinopathy of prematurity in children. In addition, he practices general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery using the latest surgical techniques. A keen and active researcher, Laurence is an advocate of translational research: the development, dissemination and integration of research into clinical practice. Holding a grant awarded by the National Medical Research Council, he is currently Principal Investigator in several studies. To date, he has published more than 40 scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals such as The Lancet; New England Journal of Medicine; The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and Ophthalmology (Journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology). In recognition of his expertise, he has been invited to speak at various regional and international meetings.
