Biography
Dr Mark Wong is currently a Senior Consultant surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery and serves as the Director of SGH Gastrointestinal Functional Lab. Dr Wong completed a Ministry of Health (MOH) sponsored fellowship in Pelvic Floor and Functional Colorectal Disorders in France in 2010. He then returned to the Department to pursue his subspecialty interest in functional colorectal disorders and minimally-invasive colorectal surgery. Dr Wong is widely published in this field and is active in several professional medical organisations. Shortly after his return, he assumed the position of Director of the SGH Pelvic Floor Disorders Service, a tripartite initiative between the Departments of Colorectal Surgery, Urology & Gynaecology. It is a multi-disciplinary initiative that provides holistic care for the management of Pelvic Floor Disorders that include conditions such as faecal incontinence, chronic constipation and pelvic organ prolapse. Together with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment managed by specialized staff, this service provides access to advanced therapies currently not available elsewhere in the region.
