Biography
Dr Hla Myint Htoon, is a clinical outcomes research scientist His work with SERI entails statistical and health economic evaluation research work for clinical outcomes. Other concurrent positions Adjunct Assistant Professor, Centre for Quantitative Medicine, Office of Clinical Sciences, Graduate Medical School Duke-NUS
Research Interest
He has keen interest in clinical outcomes research resulting from his PhD study on clinical and health promotion effect outcomes of periodontal health. In 2007, just after acquiring his PhD from NUS he joined Singapore Eye Research Institute. His focus of research work for clinical outcomes is in retrospective and prospective ophthalmology clinical outcomes on therapeutics (medications, surgical treatments, etc.). His experience in clinical outcomes research involves the evaluation of risk factors for Singapore corneal transplant study (survival analyses) and clinical trial 5FU study for Glaucoma patients. He also has clinical outcomes research experience (diagnostics, structural equation modeling, etc.) in the dental field. He is developing a Glaucoma Utility Index for Singapore using discrete choice experiments methodology and also developing a Markov Model for the lifetime management of Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma in Singapore. Dr. Htoon is a co- PI for the Glaucoma Utility Index study in Singapore (HREF grant), and has authored & co-authored over 40 papers.
