Research Interest
Dr Hou focuses on molecular pathogenesis of human pterygium which is a wing-shaped ocular surface lesion leading to visual disturbances. She is trying to construct a mouse bona fide pterygium model and to test the effect of potential drugs that may be used in humans. Dr Hou’s research aims to develop eye drops that can treat pterygium which are not severe enough to warrant surgery, or be used together with surgery to prevent post surgical recurrence.
