Biography
Dr Li Xu is a Senior Scientist I at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR and an adjunct associate professor at the National University of Singapore. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry and M.Sc. in Polymer Chemistry from Shandong University in P.R. China in 1990 and 1993 respectively. In 2002, he was awarded his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from NUS in Singapore. His expertise lies in the characterisation and structural property study of polymer based materials, and his research interest include other areas such as polymer nanocomposites, electrospun micro/nanofiber for energy storage, design and synthesis of block copolymers based on natural polymers, hybrid nanoparticles targeted for drug delivery and bioimaging, and supramolecular hydrogels as controlled release system. Dr Li has filed numerous patents and also won the A*STAR Borderless Award in 2008.
