Dr Gavin Ong

Biography

Dr Gavin Ong is a dermatologist by training and is a Consultant with The Dermatology Practice @ Gleneagles. He completed his dermatology training at the National Skin Centre, Singapore (NSC). Following his training, he was practising as a Consultant at NSC, and as a Visiting Consultant at Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital (KTPH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He is currently still a Visiting Consultant at KTPH. Dr Gavin Ong has presented and published numerous research papers in conferences and scientific journals. He has also been actively involved in medical education at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and Duke-NUS Medical School. He underwent his Fellowship at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and St Stephen Centre in London and his sub-speciality interest include Sexual Health/STI and HIV Dermatoses. His previous appointments include being the Deputy Head at the Department of STI Control, a Public Health Officer under the Ministry of Health and the Medical Director of The Skin Specialist (SMG Dermatology Centre). As the Deputy Head at the Department of STI Control, he was actively involved in numerous public sexual health programmes and initiatives with the Ministry of Health. He currently manages patients from general dermatology to sexual health and cosmetic dermatology. He is currently a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore under the Chapter of Dermatologists, as well a Member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore (DSS). Internationally, he is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Edinburgh and Glasgow, United Kingdom, an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), a Member of the European Academy of Dermato-Venereology (EADV), and a Member of The International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI). He also obtained a Masters Degree in Medical Law & Ethics in 2015.
