Biography
Chapple holds a Master’s degree in chemistry from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He is a senior researcher in the CSIR nonwovens and composites research group, where he works on the development of bio-based composites for the aerospace and transport sectors. He managed a number of textile-related research and development projects between 1994 and 2006, and was involved in projects aimed at developing new textile and composite processes and products. Chapple has authored and co-authored numerous research papers.

Chapple’s research focuses on the development of bio-based composite materials for the aerospace and transport sectors, with a particular interest in flame retardancy.
