Biography
Doctor Maria José Santos received her MD degree from the Medical School of Universidade Clássica de Lisboa, Portugal, in 1986 and specialized in Rheumatology at the Rheumatology Unit of the Hospital Santa Maria in Lisbon and Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades (Pediatric Rheumatology), in Paris. At present she works as a Senior Rheumatologist at Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada and is the head of the day care unit of the Rheumatology Department. As a clinical investigator she participated in several collaborative studies in the field of connective tissue diseases and rheumatic diseases of childhood.
Research Interest
Her main areas of interest are connective tissue diseases, rheumatic diseases of childhood and co-morbidity in systemic rheumatic diseases.
