Phil Coffey

Biography

Philip M. Coffey is the driving force behind the strategic, tactical and day-to-day efforts across the entire enterprise. Coffey’s early career included a stint as a food broker at Mid Central Foods before he moved on to more technical fields with Sencon (control and sensor manufacturing) and Ransco (climatics testing equipment and facilities manufacturing). When Coffey started his own consulting business, OMI Industries was one of his first clients, hiring him to assess market viability. The company’s potential for success and profit was extremely promising, and Coffey – in search of a company of his own – started buying distributorships and vendor agreements, which eventually turned into shares and a majority stake in OMI. Coffey has received numerous professional and trade industry awards and recognitions, including a seat as “Executive in Residence” at the University of Missouri, and an award for entrepreneurial excellence given by The Daily Herald newspaper (suburban Chicago). Under Coffey’s guidance, OMI Industries has recently been ranked on the Inc. 500/5000 list, and landed on the Crain’s Chicago Business “Fast Fifty” listing of fastest-growing Chicagoland companies.
