Clinton Phaal

Biography

 Clinton Phaal heads the Johannesburg office. He has 15 years of experience in environmental due diligence (EDD) services, contaminated land project management, and the coordination of multidisciplinary audit and assessment teams. Clinton has completed pre-acquisition and divestiture audits and assisted with the identification of environmental liabilities for a variety of clients and sectors within the UK, Europe, USA and extensively throughout Africa. He has undertaken contaminated land site investigations of greenfield and brownfield sites and a variety of operational industrial and commercial facilities. In addition, Clinton has assisted commercial clients with the implementation of the Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) and Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) for a number of industrial sectors within the UK. Waste management experience includes operational landfills auditing, environmental monitoring and public consultations for the construction of new waste disposal sites. Clinton is a professional natural scientist and holds an MSc and BSc (Hons) in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Natal, South Africa. He is an approved ISO14001 advanced auditor and associate member at the Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a member of the Institute of Waste Management.
