Biography
Silindile N Buthelezi is a lecturer in the Commercial Law Department at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Master of Laws (LLM in Business Law) from the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN). She recently completed a second LLM in International Banking and Finance Law from the University College London (UCL) in London, England, where she will be graduating with a Merit. She completed her articles of clerkship at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (formerly a member of the DLA Piper group), one of the leading corporate and commercial law firms in South Africa, and was admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa in 2012. She thereafter worked as a Law Researcher for the Judges at the Western Cape High Court prior to joining the Law Faculty at the University of Cape Town.
Research Interest
Her research interests are in general Corporate and Commercial Law (with specific focus on commercial contracts), Banking and Financial Markets Regulation, Corporate Insolvency and Restructuring, and International Trade Law. However, she also has an interest in Social Justice issues relating to violence against women and children.
