Biography
Thalia completed her BA and LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch. Thereafter she did her PHD on Civil jurisdiction rules in the EU and their impact on third States at the K.U.Leuven in Belgium. While in Belgium she worked as an assistant at the university, participated in various conferences in the field of private international law and international trade law, and maintained databases containing case law on the Viena Sales Convention and European civil procedure. She also worked as recording secretary for the Hague Conference on Private International Law at various occasions and did contract work for them. Thalia worked at an NGO in the field of private international law in family matters in Brussels. She joined the Department of Commercial Law in 2007.
